For millennia, the Kingdom of Zeal thrived on the Lost Continent, a landmass suspended above the seas by advanced technology and magical energy. The civilization reached heights of prosperity, but Queen Zeal's ambition turned dark as she sought to utilize the power beneath her throne to grant immortality primarily for herself and her family. Commoners were not granted this gift; instead, they became subjects of horrific experimentation or sacrifice, while the Mammon Machine itself harnessed Lavos's raw energy rather than burning human lives as fuel. As the entity began to stir, the continent's stability faltered. Gravity reversed in localized areas, causing waterfalls to flow upward as the land groaned under the strain. The Queen realized too late that her quest for eternal life was destroying her home. In a final act of desperation, she did not successfully seal Lavos away; rather, her activation of the Mammon Machine triggered the entity's awakening and the continent's destruction. As the kingdom fell, Schala attempted to save her mother but was not pulled directly into Lavos's core during the initial collapse.

Schala watched from the highest spire as the sky turned a bruised purple. Below her, the golden towers of the capital were being swallowed by rising tides that defied gravity. Her mother stood at the edge of the platform, hands glowing with desperate light. The ground beneath them cracked, sending shards of marble into the abyss. There was no time to save the kingdom, only a chance to seal the beast away forever. Schala felt the cold water touch her feet as the world tilted sideways.

The catastrophe begins when the parasitic entity slumbering beneath the continent stirs from its ancient dormancy. The Kingdom of Zeal, having unknowingly drawn power from this dormant force for millennia, finds their technology failing as gravity destabilizes. Queen Zeal attempts to contain the threat using forbidden magic, but her efforts only accelerate the collapse. As the landmass begins to fracture, water rushes in from all sides. Towers crumble into the depths, and the citizens flee toward the floating islands above. Schala witnesses the transformation of her home into a watery grave while her mother sacrifices herself to protect the girl. The continent descends completely beneath the waves. This event scatters Lavos's influence across the timeline, seeding future disasters. It marks the transition from the Prehistoric Era to the subsequent ages of human struggle. The ruins remain submerged as the Ocean Palace, a haunting reminder of lost glory.
